The HiPP Organic Premium Quality Seal
The trend towards organic produce is booming. But is organic food really a guarantee for healthy nutrition? From chocolate to crisps – nowadays everything is allowed to be called an organic product if it complies with the legal requirements.

Stefan Hipp would like to explain the difference between EU organic and HiPP’s premium organic quality in more detail.
Stefan Hipp: First and foremost, it stems from a long-standing tradition. We started organic farming as long as 70 years ago. Back then, organic farming wasn’t yet a major issue. We went against the grain and pursued organic farming with complete conviction. In doing so, we set new standards for the quality of baby food. These quality requirements are taken into account in the selection of soil, cultivation and processing, and are therefore also present in every HiPP organic jar.
Stefan Hipp: Of course. The EU Organic Farming Regulation is a good thing. It bans the use of chemical and synthetic sprays and fertilisers, genetic engineering in plants, artificial colours and preservatives, and flavouring and flavour enhancers.
Stefan Hipp: Not at all. The EU organic logo is good and important. However, it does not regulate the quality of our organic products beyond the cultivation stage. Contaminants from the air, the soil or neighbouring fields can affect the fruit, vegetables or cereals we grow. Consequently, the legal regulations for baby food permit only a very small amount of plant protection products in baby food. This is not the case at HiPP. We strive for higher quality – and therefore lower levels than those required by law – and carry out comprehensive quality testing to a high technical standard. Only flawless organic produce goes into the jars and is then awarded our HiPP Organic Premium Quality seal. I personally vouch for this quality promise – with my name and my signature.
Stefan Hipp: We think of quality from the field right through to the jar. First of all, we take soil samples to check whether a field is even suitable. Over decades, we have acquired specialist knowledge of how crop rotation should be managed; during cultivation, we support the organic farmers and work closely with them. Later, upon delivery, we only accept the produce once it has met the strict HiPP purity requirements in our laboratory tests.
