HiPP addresses topics that go beyond pure product quality through various pilot projects. One example is the orchard meadow project, in which additional fruit tree areas are integrated into existing farm structures in cooperation with partner farms.
Another example is the award-winning insect study conducted by HiPP in collaboration with scientific partners. It shows that organically farmed land supports a greater diversity of insect species as well as significantly higher biomass than conventionally farmed areas. This scientifically confirms what HiPP has assumed for decades: organic farming is a key lever for protecting biodiversity.
These projects are representative of a range of further activities that HiPP carries out internally and together with suppliers, without deriving any overarching claims or specific impact promises.
For many years, HiPP has been using organic raw materials produced in accordance with the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation. This method of production adheres to clearly defined environmental standards, such as rules on soil protection, the promotion of natural cycles and the limited use of synthetic pesticides. All requirements are laid down by law and are subject to independent monitoring.
The statement does not claim to have a comprehensive environmental or climate impact, nor does it suggest that HiPP improves agriculture as a whole. It only refers to the rule-based organic farming method, and not to the overall ecological footprint of individual products. HiPP transparently discloses the proportion of organically produced raw materials out of its total raw material input in its Sustainability Report.

The HiPP organic bananas come from Costa Rica or Ecuador. In accordance with the EU Organic Regulation, no chemically synthetic fertilizers or pesticides are used in organic farming. This production method follows clearly defined standards that are regularly monitored by independent inspections.
Some of our banana producers are small-scale farmers, whose share may vary depending on harvest conditions, climate, and the availability of bananas. HiPP maintains long-term partnerships with these farms.
For HiPP organic products, we use certified organic raw materials which are monitored at every stage of production – from the field to the finished product – in accordance with the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation. These checks ensure that all statutory organic requirements are met.
