What does “climate-positive” mean?

We calculate the climate footprint of our climate-positive products across the entire value chain (from the raw materials all the way to the central warehouses of our retailers). We reduce as many greenhouse gas emissions as possible. The carbon emissions that remain are more than just offset at HiPP: For example, we emit an average of 319 g of carbon per baby food jar but offset 350 g of carbon.

We reduce emissions ...

✔ by continuously reducing carbon emissions since the early 90s

✔ by producing climate-neutrally at all EU sites

✔ by constantly optimising our energy supply concepts

✔ by optimising the packaging of our products

✔ by actively protecting our climate through organic farming since 1956

We offset emissions ...

✔ by being involved in global climate protection projects – certified by independent third parties

✔ by implementing climate protection projects within our own supply chain

Methodology and data quality (according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol) have been checked and confirmed by TÜV Nord.

HiPP thinks ahead – for our future

HiPP aims to make the entire company, supply chain and product range climate-positive by 2025.

Our jars are climate-positive

From the fields to the retailers’ warehouses

HiPP is the world’s first baby food manufacturer to offer baby food jars that are climate-positive along the entire value chain from the fields to the retailers’ warehouses.

What does being climate-positive actually mean?

Our jar production has been climate-neutral* since 2011. We produce them ourselves and thereby guarantee the highest level of control and safety. But being climate-neutral is not enough to have a positive impact on climate change.

Now we are taking the next huge step forward: HiPP offsets significantly more carbon along the value chain than it generates – from the production of raw materials, packaging and shipping before, during and after production as well as to the retailers’ warehouses. That means we are giving back to nature. We not only save emissions but we also help nature to pull carbon out of the atmosphere. We do so, for example, by protecting biodiversity and by farming our fields in an organic manner, thereby promoting soil health.

We have also created a climate-positive seal to mark our climate-positive jars. Our 108,527 million organic HiPP jars produced for Germany, Austria and Switzerland per year have thereby become climate ambassadors for the entire company.
